katarina burin PA (Villa R. Entrance Grille) 2007PA (Villa R. Entrance Grill) 2007, aluminum frame with photocopy collage on board, 300 x 500 cm

Burin received her MFA from Yale University and her BFA from the University of Georgia. She currently lives and works in Berlin where she is represented by Andreas Grimm gallery. She has had recent exhibitions with Grimm in New York and Munich, with Lucile Corty in Paris, the Clockwork project in Berlin, and Form/Content in London. Her work has been in group shows at Galerie Max Hetzler and Gerhardsen Gerner in Berlin, White Columns in New York, and the Künstlerhaus Palais Thurn & Taxis in Bregenz. She was the recipient of the Dedalus Master of Fine Arts Fellowship in 2002, and has spent time at residencies at the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna, as well as Skowhegan, Yaddo and MacDowell. She was a co-curator of the Institut im Glaspavillon in Berlin, inviting international artists to participate in thematic discussions and exhibitions. Burin's work, influenced by the documentation and circulation of historical architecture and design imagery, consists of drawings, structures, larger installations and collages. She engages with these sources, plumbing their psychological depths and re-casting their forms and techniques. The first drafts of Burin's ongoing PA Monograph project were shown recently at Participant Inc. in New York and Ration 3 in San Francisco, and she is currently organizing a show of new drawings, alongside Matthew Brannon and work from the estate of commercial illustrator Charley Harper, for Country Club Projects.
