Lemieux studied at the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford. Her numerous solo exhibitions include the Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford; New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; De Appel, Amsterdam; Museo d’Arts Contemporanea, Rivoli; and the Davis Museum and Cultural Center at Wellesley College. Her works are found in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York; Castello di Rivoli, Torino; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Fogg Art Museum; Walker Art Center; Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago; Davis Museum and Cultural Center; Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Washington University Art Gallery; Yale University Art Gallery; Israel Museum; Victoria and Albert Museum; Queensland Art Gallery; and the Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt. She has received awards and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pollock/Krasner Foundation, and the Kaiser Wilhelm Museum. A traveling mid-career retrospective is planned for fall 2009 at the Krannert Art Museum. Lemieux is represented by Paul Kasmin Gallery, New York.
